RN-to-MS Program
Semester Begin Dates
- Fall Semester – late August
- Spring Semester – early January
- Summer Semester – early May
Registered nurses may elect to enter an RN-to-MS fast track program. This allows completion of the bachelor’s and master’s degree in three years of full-time study, which will likely require summer courses.
Nurses in our RN-MS program will take some graduate level courses at undergraduate tuition rates. The RN-to-MS program is ideal for associate degree holders with extra college credits, as 12 additional undergraduate credits may be accepted at the time of admission. Students must complete a minimum of 48 credits at SUNY Upstate.

Director of Master's Program
After becoming an RN with an associate’s degree, Ibrahim Thabet said, “I felt that my journey was not complete. I decided to continue my education at Upstate Medical University because of the school's rich tradition of prestige.
I could not have imagined an easier transition.” Ibrahim achieved his goal of becoming a Nurse Practitioner by earning his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the College of Nursing.
