CNS Program Schedule

As many of you are aware, due to scarce resources and low enrollment in the Clinical Nurse Specialist program, the College of Nursing planned to offer the first clinical course every other year beginning spring 2011. We are pleased to announce that there is an increase in enrollment in the CNS program. Because of this, the first clinical CNS course will be offered in the spring of 2011. Beginning in January 2013, the College will offer CNS I every other year (on even years) in the spring semester. However, if enrollment continues to increase we will again review our policy.

This letter is meant to help you plan your program of study accordingly. The schedule will be as follows:

The College is committed to the CNS track and is not considering closing the program. This new schedule will make it more cost effective to continue this track. If you have any questions or concerns or wish to review your individual program of study, please contact Dr. Melanie Kalman at (315) 464-3909 or by email at kalmanm@upstate.edu.

I went to work after earning my assoc-
iate's degree, and kept right on going to school. Courses like Nurse as Educator fit right in with what I want to do professionally. In class, not only do you develop lasting friendships with students and faculty, but itís encouraging to be around so many nurses, in all sorts of careers. "
