Information Systems
Upstate University Hospital Community Campus has a modern infrastructure built on current technology. The primary mission of the hospital's Information Systems Department (IS) is clinical support. The department's staff offers around the clock assistance to physicians regarding all hospital systems, including electronic medical records. Primarily based on Microsoft technologies such as Windows Server, SQL Server, Terminal Server and Exchange, IS has over 400 PC and thin client workstations throughout the hospital.

Technology Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
Through electronic medical record technology, patient information can be accessed by physicians inside or outside the hospital. The EMR contains all laboratory and radiology results, transcribed reports (discharge summaries, operative reports, etc.), and also provides a live link to patients' radiology images, which are stored on the hospital's picture archiving and communication system.
Physician Order Entry (CPOE)
Upstate University Hospital Community Campus is currently working to create the computerized physician order entry system, which will work inclusively with the EMR.
Public Wireless Network
Upstate University Hospital Community Campus has free wireless internet access available to patients, staff and visitors at many locations throughout the hospital.
Metronet
Upstate University Hospital Community Campus is a founding member of the Syracuse Metronet which provides secure gigabit ethernet connectivity between nonprofit organizations in Onondaga County. The systems allows for such innovations as direct video conferencing between hospital and another county facility. The benefits of this network are endless. For example, Upstate University Hospital Community Campus can provide a video conferencing interview service over the Metronet between Upstate University Hospital Community Campus and the Onondaga County department of Social Services (DSS) so that patients and family can apply for financial assistance while at Upstate University Hospital Community Campus and avoid traveling to the DSS.
