Vitality! Fitness Programs
Upstate has the unique opportunity to offer our patients the option of enrolling in the Vitality! Fitness Programs at the Institute for Human Performance (IHP) in Syracuse NY, which has proven to be an effective alternative for those who are not able to do traditional exercise.
If you are unable to take advantage of the Vitality! Fitness Programs or would prefer to go to a more traditional gym environment especially one that is closer to where you live, then we recommend that you find one that offers a non-intimidating.

- The Obesity Action Coalition is a non-profit patient based organization dedicated to and advocating on behalf of those affected by obesity, morbid obesity and childhood obesity.
- Weight–control Information Network is part of the department of Health and Human Services National Institute for Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Disease (NIDDK) that is devoted to weight control.
- American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) is the professional agency that our staff learns from. The ASMBS also offers a lot of great patient education in their Patient learning Center.
