Charge/Function:

The Governing Board of the faculty practice plan and its 501(c) 3 not-for-profit university faculty practice corporation, University Medical Associates at Syracuse, Inc. (UMAS) provides governance, leadership, direction and oversight of the federated practice plan. Consistent with Article XVI of the SUNY Board of Trustees Policies, the Governing Board is made up of an elected representative from each of the clinical departments. Standardized policies and business procedures, financial reporting and oversight, coordinated negotiations with insurers and managed care entities, integrated computer systems for billing and general ledger accounting, regulatory compliance, etc. are among the responsibilities assumed by the Governing Board.
