Dr. Horst joined the faculty in the summer of 1988 and served as Associate Residency Director and Medical Director of the residency model office from 1990 - 2004. She is the physician member of the Palliative Care Consult Service at St. Joseph's Hospital since 1999 and is also a Hospice physician. Dr. Horst received both her undergraduate and medical degrees from Pennsylvania State University and completed her residency training at the Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at Albany Medical College where she served as Assistant Residency Director from 1984-1988. Dr. Horst has given over 40 presentation and authored/co-authored 4 publications in the last 20 years. Dr. Horst was awarded the Ernie Carhart Teaching Award of the Family Medicine Residency, SJHHC in 1990, the St. Joseph's Family Practice Teaching Award in 1994, 1996, and 1998, and she was the 2004 Academy of Family Physicians' Family Practice Educator of the Year.
