He joined the SUNY Upstate Medical University Department of Family Medicine in 1998 as an Associate Professor. Dr. Lax has several teaching responsibilities, some of which include "Occupational Medicine" didactic session, given 6 times per year, Preceptor for Intro to Clinical Medicine students at SUNY Health Science Center and training nursing students at the Central New York Occupational Health Clinical Center. Dr. Lax is a member of the Preventive Medicine Curriculum Steering Commitee at SUNY Upstate, the Clinical Practice Managing Plan Governing board at SUNY Health and The University Hospital latex education group. Dr. Lax has authored/co-authored over 30 publications, book chapters, posters and abstracts and given over 130 presentations in the last 20 years, all mostly related to occupational health, safety and issues in the workplace.
