Upstate Medical University's College of Medicine has stream-lined its curriculum to incorporate more clinical context and innovative self-directed learning for students in the pre-clerkship years.  The new "UP curriculum" resulted from a thorough examination of existing courses, with input from university leadership, faculty and students.  The result is a unified path, designed for maximum relevance and efficiency.

Upstate Medical University hopes to prepare students for lifelong learning in complex health care systems and to increase integration of the basic and clinical sciences, allowing students to apply science concepts throughout their education and increase comprehension and retention of medical knowledge.

We are excited to be implementing our Unified Pre-clerkship (UP) Curriculum as the first phase of curricular renewal, beginning August 8, academic year 2016-2017.
