Central New York Master of Public Health Program

A Letter from the Director

Thank you for your interest in the CNYMPH Program, a joint graduate degree program of SUNY Upstate Medical University and Syracuse University.

The CNYMPH Program is seeking talented and inquisitive students who want to make a real-world difference. The program offers exciting educational, research and service opportunities, and will provide you with the credentials to further your career.

This unique program utilizes the academic strengths of both universities and draws outstanding faculty from many disciplines, including: public policy, clinical medicine, social and behavioral sciences, law and the humanities. The program emphasizes a multi-disciplinary and ecological approach to understanding public health problems and the development of innovative solutions.

We are committed to ensuring that the academic experience is intellectually challenging for students, and provides them with the necessary skills for leadership as public health practitioners. Upon graduation, our students will be able to apply their knowledge and skills to solving wide-ranging public health problems through sound public health research and translating that research into beneficial programs and policies.

Students who are applying to the CNYMPH graduate program in public health represent a broad range of health care and non-health care professionals. Among them are recent college graduates, nurses, lawyers, administrators, physician assistants, medical students, and physicians. The class environment is greatly enriched by the unique perspectives that each student contributes to the public health learning experience.

Please feel free to contact us by telephone, mail, or e-mail. You will find us ready to answer your questions and assist you in the pursuit of your public health career goals.

If you can envision yourself in this selective environment, I encourage you to apply. It will take the best and brightest minds to protect and improve the publics' health!
