From the Director
This is an exciting time to pursue a professional degree in Public Health, and the CNYMPH Program at Upstate Medical University is an ideal venue to provide that opportunity. The unique Central New York Master of Public Health program relies on the academic strengths of Upstate Medical University in clinical medicine, social and behavioral sciences, health policy and program administration.
CNYMPH students strive to understand public health problems and develop innovative methods to improve the health of their communities and of larger populations.
We are committed to ensuring that the academic experience here is intellectually challenging and equips our students with the necessary skills for leadership in public health. In addition to gaining a solid foundation in public health principles, research methodology and real-world application, our students are able to choose a topic they are passionate about and devote considerable time to it in field work and research.
After they earn their MPH degree, our students can apply their knowledge and skills to solve wide-ranging public health problems by translating sound research into beneficial programs and policies.
CNYMPH students represent a broad range of individuals from within and outside the health care professions. Among them are recent college graduates from a variety of majors, as well as nurses, lawyers, administrators, physician assistants, medical students and physicians. Class sessions and group projects are greatly enriched by the unique perspectives that each student brings.
If you can envision yourself in this selective environment, we encourage you to apply. It will take the best and brightest minds to protect and improve the public's health!-Martha Wojtowycz, PhD Director, CNYMPH Program Vice Chair for Education, Public Health & Preventive Medicine Associate Professor, Public Health & Preventive Medicine Associate Professor, Obstetrics & Gynecology
