Mission
The mission of the office of Continuing Medical Education is to improve the
health of the patients and communities we serve. This is accomplished through
development and presentation of effective educational activities in a variety
of formats in order to help practitioners in SUNY Upstate's service area and
improve the quality of their professional performance.
Continuing Medical Education is offered by each of the clinical departments
at SUNY Upstate. These include Anesthesiology, Bioethics and Humanities, Emergency
Medicine, Family Medicine, Medicine, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Obstetrics and
Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedic Surgery, Otolaryngology and Communication
Sciences, Pathology, Pediatrics, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Psychiatry
and Behavioral Sciences, Radiation Oncology, Radiology, Surgery and Urology.
The Continuing Medical Education program offers synchronous educational activities
in a variety of formats including, conferences, video teleconferences, seminars
and grand rounds. Asynchronous learning occurs through web-based modules, books,
videotapes and cassette tapes.
Our Commitment to Serve
The Office of Continuing Medical Education serves the community by:
- Providing educational opportunities to enhance the expertise of physicians
and other health care professionals.
- Providing opportunities for physicians and other health care professionals
to share knowledge and current research.
- Providing a link to SUNY Upstate for alumni and for community-based physicians
and other health care professionals.
