The Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation of the University of Rochester Medical Center seeks a Physical Therapy Resident for our Sports Residency Program beginning in January 2012.  This APTA credentialed Residency Program is a one year program that features close interaction between MD’s and sports certified physical therapists in the care of outpatient orthopaedic related injuries in a state of the art musculoskeletal building. 

Our program features a didactic sports medicine curriculum, electronic medical records, indoor batting cage, functional treatment approaches, 2D video analysis, isokinetic testing equipment, close interaction with physicians and senior clinicians, academic and clinical research opportunities all in a system culture that promotes ‘Medicine of the Highest Order’.

Current opportunity:

Sports Physical Therapy Resident

The positions require a degree in physical therapy and NYS licensure. The applicant must also possess one of the following: a current ATC designation, a current license as an EMT, or certification as an Emergency Responder.  Prefer candidates with orthopaedic experience, especially in sports medicine.  Recent graduates with strong interest and preparation in sports medicine or orthopedics are encouraged to apply.

Senior Physical Therapist Acute Care

We seek an exceptional Senior Therapist to assist in the clinical acute care bedside setting. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, conducting initial assessments and evaluation of physical therapy needs for specifi cally assigned patient populations; implementing treatment plans and protocol according to current professional and health system standards; completing all required documentation for patient care and reimbursement; and participating in clinical education of fi eldwork students and other professional educational endeavors. You will also be responsible for a certain level of patient care productivity as indicated by individual unit procedures and will assume additional responsibilities in the organizational and structural needs of assigned unit. To qualify, you must possess a Bachelor's degree or higher in Physical Therapy with excellent communication and interpersonal skills; and a minimum of two years of experience as a Physical Therapist. A current New York State Physical Therapist license is required. Experience in an acute care bedside setting is strongly preferred.

Physical Therapy Assistant
Outpatient

In this role, you will prepare patients for Physical Therapy treatment, applying hot and/or cold modalities, therapeutic exercises and functional activities. You will also document all patient care related activities under the direct supervision of a Physical Therapist; assist in the administration of testing procedures, maintaining supplies, equipment, and assistive devices; and perform preventative and supportive care, plus all related duties as assigned. Requires an associate's degree from an approved Physical Therapy Assistant Program with outpatient experience preferred. Must have a current NYS Physical Therapy Assistant license, along with strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team setting.
