BIOL 451 Research Methods I - SUNY Gen Ed Course

This course is designed to present the basics of research from choosing a research problem to constructing and presenting a research proposal. Discussions on scientific methodology including experimental design, human research, and critical analysis of medical literature are included.

Specifically, in order to maintain compliance with SUNY General Education learning outcomes in the areas of Information Management, course objectives will include 1) optimizing student ability to perform the basic operations of personal computer use, and 2) understand and use basic research techniques. Students will be expected to complete selected student portfolio items designated to measure these student learning outcomes, to include: 1) a "Review of the Literature," and 2) a "Critique of a Research Article." Fall semester.
