Core Curriculum

Educational programs conducted within your own clinical setting will be designed to include a comprehensive range of issues,
such as:

  • Early identification and clinical management of HIV infection and disease
  • Antiretroviral therapy, treatment adherence, and advances in diagnostic testing
  • Diagnosis and management of opportunistic infections and HIV-related diseases
  • Integrating HIV prevention and risk reduction into primary care, including partner notification
  • Clinical management of pregnant women with
    HIV infection and preventive therapy with antiretrovirals
  • Gynecological and obstetrical care
  • Pediatric care with an emphasis on family-centered care
  • Management of patients with substance use histories, alcoholism, methadone maintenance and harm reduction
  • Oral health care
  • Early diagnosis, management and prevention of sexually transmitted diseases
  • Mental health and psychosocial issues
  • Alternative treatments and clinical trials
  • Management and prophylaxis following HIV exposure
