Your First Appointment

You've been diagnosed with breast cancer and have chosen the Upstate Cancer Center for treatment. But what are your next steps? Either your referring physician or you will contact the Upstate Breast Cancer Program at 315 464-HOPE (315 464-4673).

Your pathology reports and other pertinent information confirming your breast cancer diagnosis will be needed for a review before your first visit.

Once the review is complete, a specialized, multi-disciplinary team member will contact you with a Friday afternoon appointment.

This appointment will include individual meetings with members of Upstate Breast Cancer's multidisciplinary team. It may include, but is not limited to, a surgeon, a radiation oncologist, a medical oncologist and a genetic counselor. The care team is determined based on each patient's diagnosis and needs.

Your appointment will be scheduled to follow a team meeting where the entire team reviews all the patients scheduled to be seen that day.

The appointment will take a minimum of 2 hours in order to accommodate your individual appointments with multiple providers who will work with you to determine the best plan of care for you.
