Sondra Mott

Sondra Mott, MS, BA, RN, is an Instructor of Bioethics and Humanities and is the Chair of the University Hospital Ethics Committee. Ms. Mott also serves on the Center's Ethics Consultation Service. She received a B.A. in English from Syracuse University with a minor in Philosophy, an M.S. in Business and Health Administration from SUNY Polytechnic Institute, and an RN from Crouse School of Nursing.

Ms. Mott teaches in several courses in bioethics including Health Care Ethics for College of Health Professions/College of Nursing students, Patients to Populations: Ethics, Law and Public Health for first year medical students, and Clinical Bioethics in the College of Medicine.

Ms. Mott served as the Associate Director of Nursing for Ambulatory Services at Upstate prior to coming to the Center in 2016. She currently assists as a clinical liaison for the Information Management and Technology (IMT) department for EPIC (EMR) specializing in nursing triage and medical specialty modules for documentation, data, reporting and analysis.

Her current research interests are the understanding and application of brain death criteria, truth-telling in medicine, professionalism, transplantation ethics, patient rights, and medical errors.
