Education – University Hospital Ethics Education Program
Ethics Education for Caregivers:
A Joint Effort of University Hospital's Ethics Committee and the Center for Bioethics and Humanities
Ethics Education for Caregivers was funded by University Hospital in 2000 with
the goal of improving knowledge, recognition, and resolution of ethical issues
in patient care among staff. This effort includes the Bioethics
in Brief newsletter and a nursing educational initiative. Beginning in the
spring of 2000, many of the hospital staff nurses participated in a basic ethics
curriculum of three units focusing on ethical issues in end-of-life care: Basics
in Ethics, Advance Directives and Futility, and Case Presentations.
If your clinical group would like a seminar or case discussion on an ethical issue, email Catherine V. Caldicott, MD at caldicoc@upstate.edu.
