ALATEEN SHARINGS FROM YOUNGER MEMBERS

One Day At A Time
by Anonymous, South Carolina
(Spring 2002, Volume 40-Number 1)

When I came to Alateen I was a little of everything. This is my 4th meeting and I feel better already! There are some things I tell Alateen I can't tell my mom. I have had a lot of problems in my family and it is sometimes hard to think about because it reminded me how my life was and how I felt. I am some times afraid of what will happen and then I think "ONE DAY AT A TIME" and it helps. Hope you come; it will work if you want it to!

I learned to use the slogans
by Brittney, California
(Spring 2002, Volume 40-Number 1)

When I first came to Alateen I was scared that no one would like me. Now, I feel differently about coming to the meetings because my friends are here. The first thing I learned in Alateen was a slogan and about friendship. As a newcomer, the program helped me to not fight with my brother and sister. I learned to use the slogans.

I got help
by Rocy, Wisconsin
(Spring 2002, Volume 40-Number 1)

Before I came to Alateen I was always angry with myself. I was mentally beating myself up for my parents splitting up. After I started going to meetings, I got help. I finally started to let go and let God take over.

I don't have to be sad
by Christina, Virginia
(Fall 2002, Volume 40-Number 3)

Since I came to Alateen, my attitude has changed because, it helped me to know that I don't have to be sad that my dad is an alcoholic.

I go to Alateen to learn about the sickness
by Jamie, Illinois
(Spring 2002, Volume 40-Number 1)

My mom is an alcoholic. She left the stove on and we had to get one of our 15-year-old friends to shut it off. We got locked out of her apartment for an hour because she was drunk. We had to buzz her a lot of times. Every time we went to her house she would be drunk. I go to Alateen to learn about the sickness and to focus on myself.

I am not alone
by Jazmin, California
(Summer 2002, Volume 40-Number 2)

I like Alateen because I learn a lot of things like to respect our parents without getting angry and to help others by giving them love. I can talk to other kids with the same problem. I am not alone.

My Attitude Has Changed
by Rachel, Virginia
(Fall 2002, Volume 40-number 3)

I'm not bossy anymore and I feel that I could do what someone else wants to do for a change. I don't yell anymore. I use my mouth to say good things. I know that I can't control my dad's attitude.
