SYMPTOMS LEADING TO RELAPSE: (in Al-Anon)

EXHAUSTION - I mustn't allow myself to become overly tired, or keep myself so busy that home and children take second place. Good health and rest are important; when I feel well, I'm more apt to think well. When I feel badly, I say and do things I'm sure to be sorry for later.

DISHONESTY - This begins with covering up for the drinker. I won't make excuses to family, friends, the boss.

IMPATIENCE - Things are not happening fast enough, or others are not doing what I think they should.

ARGUMENTATIVENESS - reacting to the alcoholic's accusations by arguing just gives him an excuse to drink.

DEPRESSION - I must deal with it and talk about it; not allow it to continue.

FRUSTRATION - Things are not going my way.

SELF-PITY - Why me? Nobody appreciates me.

THEATS - I mustn't say things I don't mean.

COMPLACENCY - I should continue to attend meetings, although things are better for the time being. Prayer, meditation, daily inventory are all important.

EXPECTING TOO MUCH - It's a plus if others change for the better, but I won't let it be a problem if they don't. I can't expect others to change just because I have. I must set realistic goals, and do my best.
