2008 SUMMER INTERNSHIP/MENTORING PROGRAM

The 2008 Summer Internship / Mentoring Program is a strategic initiative sponsored by the President’s Office and the Office of Diversity and Affirmative Action in collaboration with the urban community.

The goal of the Program is to foster the interest of under-represented minority students in pursuing health careers by providing summer employment, health career awareness, and mentoring opportunities to urban youth who are pursuing higher education.

The Program is open to under-represented minority students who are pursuing higher education, specifically those already attending college as well as recent high school graduates. Program participants will be offered paid, on-the-job experience for the summer and an opportunity for mentoring and exploration of health career options while immersed in the Upstate Medical University environment.

All Upstate Medical University departments are invited to submit a request, to include a complete job description for a summer intern through this program. Since this program is funded by the President’s Office, a charge account does not need to be identified by the requesting department.
