McAfee for Windows 2000 and XP

Step One: Remove all other antivirus software

  • Click on Start, Settings, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs.
  • Select the software you want to remove and click 'remove'

Step Two: Click the following link and select 'open' or 'run':

  • FramePkg35.exe (ensures that virus auto updates funtion)
  • This file will be installed automatically

Step Three: Click the following link and select 'open' or 'run':

  • CTVSE8.zip (McAfee Virus Scan Software)
  • Winzip should open automatically at the conclusion of downloading the file. If Winzip does not open, you must download and install Winzip from the following location: winzip95.exe.
  • Click Unzip.
  • Click OK, then Close.
  • Double Click My Computer, C: Drive, and then the mcafeeinstall folder.
  • Double Click Setup (setupvse.exe) to begin installation.
  • Follow the steps to complete installation. Use all of the default choices.
  • Be Patient, the install could take up to 5 minutes. When it is complete, you will be prompted to restart your computer.

Step Four: Click the following link and select 'open' or 'run':

  • VSE80P11.zip (most recent patch to McAfee Antivirus Program)
  • select "Extract All Files"
  • select "Next", "Next"
  • Be sure that "Show Extracted Files" is checked, and click "Finish"
  • Close all Internet Browser windows
  • A new windows should open, double-click "Setup.exe" (if prompted, select "Run")
  • Select "Next", then "Finish"

Step Five: Complete the Online Form to ensure your ResNet connection remains active.
