Academic Affairs

The mission of SUNY Upstate Medical University is to improve the health of the communities we serve through education, biomedical research, and health care.

The Office of Academic Affairs at Upstate relates to all aspects of our mission. The office works behind the scenes and with the president, vice presidents, deans, faculty, and staff across the colleges to support university accreditation, institutional and strategic planning regarding education, and the educational program development and approval process through SUNY and the New York Office of Education.

We also support academic policy development and revision, the measurement of student learning outcomes, the assessment and evaluation of educational programs, the Simulation and Clinical Skills Centers, honorary degrees, various faculty awards, and microcredentials. We work collaboratively with many others who support the academic mission, including the Research Office, the Office of Faculty Affairs and Faculty Development, the Office of Educational Communications, the Student Affairs offices, and Faculty Council (faculty governance).
