General Information
Parking
SUNY Upstate Medical University offers visitor parking in the visitor parking garage across from University Hospital. There are open lots at University Health Care Center and at the Institute for Human Performance. Limited metered parking is available on Elizabeth Blackwell Street near University Hospital, and along Irving Avenue near Weiskotten and Silverman Halls and the Health Sciences Library. Visitors to Weiskotten Hall may wish to park at one of the public garages on Irving or S. Crouse avenues.

Food and Coffee
Cafe 750, on the second floor of University Hospital, is open daily from 6 am until 10 pm, with dinner available until 8 pm.
Other food venues:
- Vending machines are open 24 hours a day.
- A coffee bar, with hot and cold beverages, baked goods, salads and sandwiches, is open in the hospital lobby.
- The Spice Express, on the ninth floor of Weiskotten Hall, is open 7:30 am to 2 pm, Monday through Friday.
- The snack bar, first floor of the Campus Activities Building, is open 7:30 am to 2 pm, Monday through Friday.
Off campus, the University Hill area has a wide variety of restaurants, fast food and coffee shops along South Crouse Avenue and Marshall Street.
Lodging
Several area hotels and motels offer reduced rates for families of University Hospital patients. The Ronald McDonald House, 1027 E. Genesee St., 315 476-1027, offers lodging for parents/guardians of hospitalized children. The Sarah House, 100 Roberts Ave., 315 475-1747, offers modest lodging to adult patients and their families for a small donation.
University Hospital offers Rest Easy, special overnight housing arrangements for patients and families who must travel 50+ miles for early morning procedures. For details on Rest Easy, call Continuum of Care, Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 6 pm, 315 464-6161 or 800 528-5790. After 6 pm, contact the hospital operator, 464-5540/877 464-5540, and the social worker on call will assist with your lodging.

There are several gas stations on Erie Boulevard East and South Salina Street.
Gifts and Flowers
A gift shop, managed by Upstate Advocates, is located in the lobby of University Hospital. A small medical bookstore is located on the first floor of the Campus Activities Building. There are many shops in the University Hill area along South Crouse Avenue and Marshall Street. The area’s two largest malls, Carousel Center and ShoppingTown, are ten-minute drives from campus.
ATMs
There are automatic teller machines in the lobby of University Hospital, in the Physician’s Office Building, 725 Irving Ave., and in nearby banks.
Transportation
FREE Shuttle for Getting Around Campus
Upstate’s free shuttle bus runs every 15 minutes (more frequently during busy hours) from 6:05 am to 8:15 pm, travelling from Madison-Irving Medical Center garage to:

- Jacobsen Hall
- 550 Harrison Center
- University Health Care Center
- Weiskotten Hall
