Directions During University Hospital Construction

From the WEST:

  • Thruway Exit 39 (Syracuse)
  • Take 690 East to 81 South to Harrison/Adams/Syracuse University exit (#18)
  • Bear left. You will go under Rt. 81
  • Left at second light (Adams St.)
  • The visitors' garage is on the left, across from the hospital
  • Enter from either Sarah Loguen or Elizabeth Blackwell streets.

From the EAST:

  • Thruway Exit 34a (481)
  • Take 481 south to 690 West to the Downtown/Townsend St. exit (#13)
  • Turn left off the ramp onto Townsend
  • Left at sixth light (Adams St.)
  • Go under Rt. 81 overpass
  • Left at second light (Adams St.)
  • Visitors' garage is on the left, across from hospital. Enter from either Sarah Loguen or Elizabeth Blackwell streets.

From the NORTH:

  • Route 81 South to Harrison/Adams/Syracuse University Bear left. You will go under Rt. 81
  • Left at second light (Adams St.)
  • Visitors' garage is on the left, across from hospital. Enter from either Sarah Loguen or Elizabeth Blackwell streets.

From the SOUTH:

  • Route 81 North to Adams St. exit (#18 )
  • Take right on Adams St.
  • Visitors' garage is on the left, across from hospital.
  • Enter from either Sarah Loguen or Elizabeth Blackwell streets.

University Hospital visitor and patient parking is available in the East Adams Street Garage, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The entrance to the garage is located between Almond Street and Sarah Loguen Street, across from the main entrance of University Hospital. Patient drop-off at the front entrance of University Hospital is permitted, but there is no parking in the hospital traffic circle. To drop off a patient at the front entrance of University Hospital, enter the hospital traffic circle from the right lane of East Adams Street.

Monthly parking is available in the Adams Street side of the garage for visitors who have a long-term (in the hospital a week or more) patient in the hospital.

Monthly Fee

Monthly fee is $40.00 plus New York Sales Tax $2.80 (total $42.80) a calendar month. If a visitor signs up for monthly parking on or after the 15th of the month, the rate will be prorated to half the cost.

Key Card

$5.00 deposit on the key card is required for all visitor issues. This card will enable the parker to use the Upstate(University Hospital) Parking Garage 24 hours a day during the month they have paid.
* deposit is refundable upon the return of the card.

  • A yellow tag will be issued in place of a permanent sticker and must be displayed on the rear view mirror facing outward, whenever the car is parked in the Garage. Visitors not displaying this tag may be ticketed and/or towed.
  • The return of the key card (for refund of the deposit) may be made in person or by mail. If the return is made in person, visitors who are paid for the current month should park in the garage and arrangements will be made for their exit. If returning the key card by mail, a money order refund will be sent upon receipt of the key card.

Financial Assistance

Financial assistance is available for those who cannot afford the monthly rate. Those individuals should contact the Parking Office.

Public Safety

Public Safety is available 24 hours a day to provide an escort. You should allow approximately twenty minutes for Public Safety to arrange your escort.
